The homeland security enterprise in a post 9/11 world

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano and Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley discuss the homeland security architecture in a post 9/11 world, on Oct. 11, 2011 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the University of Maryland's Stamp Student Union. The one hour forum, Homeland Security in a Post 9/11 World, will bring together the nation's Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano and Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley, moderated by University of Maryland terrorism expert Gary LaFree, director of START - the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism, a Department of Homeland Security Center of Excellence. Among the topics to be discussed, partnerships between federal and state governments that have grown in the years since 9/11. "Homeland security increasingly involves all levels of government, and this improves our level of readiness," says UMD's Gary LaFree, program moderator. "We've come a long way in this regard in the past decade."
